Where you using a tripod? I like the idea, If you was to use an tripod you could put your ISO at 100 and your F-stop at F16 or F22, the image might come out better, of course you would have to mess around and take some practice shots to figure out your shutter speed buts that's why a tripod would help.
I did use a tripod,I just didn't have a remote shutter at the time, so I was limited with how high I could put the f- stop :-/. But you are absolutely right with the exif data. we were set up on top of a rock across from the climb.
